Valentine's Day Plans

Feb 9, 2012 at 6:00am by Real Women of Philadelphia

Good morning!

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and love is definitely in the air. Colours are more vivid, scents more pleasurable, flavours more robust!

One of my best friends is born on Valentine's Day, so her husband always plans something special for her and her friends. One year he rented out a bowling alley to celebrate her 30th bday, and we spent the night knocking pins down. Definitely one of the most unique Valentine's Day evenings I've had in my life. This year, I think they're keeping things very simple since they have a little one.

I personally love surprises on Valentine's Day, especially if they include good food!

We do not normally celebrate Valentines Day but Friends have asked us to go out to dinner the weekend before with a few other couples so that will be our Valentines day.

Valentine's Day is very important in my family - with my boys, with my daycare gang with treats, cards, artwork... Especially my hubby Phil and I started dating on Valentine's Day Feb 14, 1992 -- so we celebrate our 20th going out anniversary this year! I can't believe it's been 20 years - crazy.

We use to celebrate every month on the 14th (corny or what!) - -when dating, and then we married and celebrated the 14th with cards, dinner, gifts. When are kids arrived it was harder to go out with little kids so we would make a great dinner at home and the kids would help decorate. I'm so use to having my kids around that I feel almost incomplete when they are not with us for dinner so we always include them in our plans. They are teenagers now so I'm waiting for that I have to work mom or my girlfriend and I are hanging - so it's just a matter of time before that window of just family time is closed! It's all good-- it's the balance of life right ;)

I'm looking forward to celebrating with my hubby this Valentine's Day - 20 years - to my best friend and soul mate - I have been blessed.

And, Chantal, happy 20th anniversary to you! So sweet to include your boys in your plans.
